2006: a Modus Operandi year in review

Here at MO we’d like to offer you a belated Happy New Year and we hope this time next year we’ll be doing the same with your 2007 resolutions having come true!
There really isn’t a better time to look back at the year 2006, a year that saw some massive changes in MO a lot of people didn’t really expect, from new partners to a return to the LAN scene.
With our last ET event being Quakecon 2005 our return to ET was quite different, becoming active for the AusTourney 3v3 Cup in January. Moving on to the AusTourney Return to Castle Wolfenstein Cup we had some great games and it served to remind us all of the magic that was RTCW. We re-entered GameArena for Season 7 and across seasons 7 and 8 we had some memorable matches along with top 3 finishes.
In a move that proved to shock many, ET Team Captain and Quakecon veteran Andrew “Demanufacturer” Townsend stepped down from playing to coach and manage the team full-time.
Movie wise, we released Truc1dio – a movie featuring the AusTourney 3v3 event. Vindication was also nominated for 2 of the prestigious GGL Golden Llama awards but failed to take one home despite some very high praise. The estimated release date of Mode of Operation has been and gone, with the production currently on ice in lieu of other projects.
September saw the biggest change in MO to date – moving to becoming a multi-gaming team with the addition of a Counter-Strike 1.6 team. We hit the LAN competitions running coming away with almost all Top 3 placing’s. We’ve met a lot of great people at ZAM with these events and we’re looking forward to more in 2007. Be sure to check out our photos from these events in our Counter-Strike forum!
Partner-wise, we’ve been proud to announce deals with Zone AdrenaLAN Melbourne, Supreme Hosting, GamerzStuff and fUnc Industries. They have all been instrumental in ensuring our solid performances and consistency this year.
A quick snapshot of our 2006 achievements:
AusTourney 3v3 Season 2
AusTourney RTCW Cup
GameArena ET Season 7
Gamapalooza 3 Leg 1
Gamapalooza 3 Leg 2

Our custom-built website (thanks to Robert “dcc” Usher) has also performed very well. Now with over 280 members, here’s a brief rundown of some of the people that have signed up (going in blocks of 50.)
050. riCo

Our thanks go out to everyone who has made Australian gaming so fantastic this year, and we hope that 2007 brings bigger and better things to Aussie gamers. We hope to see you soon! |
Happy Birthday Daniel 'forge' Fox!

22 years ago today Christmas came early for the Fox family with the arrival of baby Daniel R. Fox.
22 years later, we're lucky to have Daniel leading the MO Counter-Strike division. Even though he's only been with us a short time, he has already been instrumental in the solid CS performances this year. Individually Daniel has had another successful year playing Counter-Strike, now having played the game competitively for almost 4 years.
Please join us in wishing Daniel a very happy birthday! |

This Sunday, Two Tribes Go To War!

The stage is set for what will most likely be one of the most explosive grand finals in GameArena history.
Modus Operandi vs Adversus to become the first team to win two GameArena ET Titles.
After a controversial exit from last seasons semi final, MO reinforced their lineup with new recruits due to some retirements. Most unexpected was the shift of Andrew "Demanufacturer" Townsend from team captain and player to team coach. With a new lineup finding its feet, MO finished up a quiet and short season with a 3-2 record - both losses being to Adversus in the regular season. For finals, MO have come out hard with two 3-0 wins to secure their grand final berth.
Adversus, coming off a Season 7 win have also had some lineup shifts this season. Regardless, they have finished with a 3-0 seasonal record and have taken the season 8 minor premiership. Coming into finals they started out strong with a 3-0 win over Wolfenstein mainstays Regiments of Khaos. On to the semi final they met last seasons Silver Medalists Team Redux, who they defeated 3-1 on Braundorf.
This Sunday we'll see both teams face off for the season win and bragging rights - with the maps being Supplydepot (MO's choice) Goldrush (Adversus' choice) and Beach as a decider if required. |
