As One Door Closes, Another Door Opens

Modus Operandi's season 2 campaign came to a close last week 21/07/04) when they faced off against :au: Infernal Chaos on radar. After a tense and hectic battle, our worthy opponents proved themselves to be the better team on the night and scrambled to a 3-1 victory. You can find a match report here. We extend our congratulations to infernal chaos on their successfully reaching the grand final and placing second overall.
RoK understandably forfeited the play off for third place, although the lost chance for a good old fashioned knife fight to determine the placing will be mourned by a few.
The close of Season 2 saw the departure of competing regulars Lucky, ophidian and rinaldo (who claims he wasn't a regular but he may as well have been - he has commitment issues, ladies.) They and their contributions will be sorely missed but we wish them the best of luck in whatever endeavours they choose to pursue. However, if anyone knows how we can actually get them to stop loafing around our war room, please e-mail the administration with your sugggestions.
With the departure of those members, Modus Operandi embarked on a vigorous recruiting drive and reviewed many worthwhile applicants. Making a choice has been difficult but we are currently trialling some of the candidates we feel have the best chance of fitting in with the team.
Yesterday saw the launch of Modus Operandi's design division headed up by new recruit :au: GoRechilD whose impressive talents have already gained him some recognition. Doubtless to say, we are very excited about his recent arrival and look forward to what our collective talents can come up with! Feel free to visit www.nurserygrotesque.com for a glimpse at our new head artist's portfolio.
The design division also sees the first step towards a series of upcoming community projects which we are very excited about! Although the details are under wraps at present, be assured you will be seeing more of mo* soon.
Until next time! |
ET Season 2 Finals Round 1 vs RoK
08.07.2004 23:21 by Demanufacturer
|
tonight Modus Operandi faced Regiments of Khaos on Battery during 1st round finals
The LineUps:
mo*: lucky, shaggy, demanufacturer, warmachine, rinaldo, ophidian, courageous, mozzey
RoK.: cheezel, trac1d, shrek, alkaline, maqis, sifnt, snooze
we started as axis, holding rok for the full time of 10 minutes
we then beat the time in 4:11
mo* 1 - RoK. 0
we attacked again and set a time of 2:09
we then held RoK for that time
mo* 2 - RoK. 0
after this round we had a huge delay due to some comp/vent problems, RoK were very understanding as the delay was about 10-15 minutes.
we ended up subbing shaggy in as the troubleshooting/resolution was taking too long, and the round commenced with us on defense
8 minutes in RoK started using a KeKu-style knife attack.. unfortunately their distraction tactics didnt work, they were held for 10 minutes..
we then attacked and beat the time in 3:66
The Result:
:au: Modus Operandi 3 - 0 :au: Regiments of Khaos
gg rok, gl in your next matchup
unfortunately the stats are borked due to some timeouts we called due to players being 999, statwhores didnt work either!
special thanks to Unforgiven for shoutcasting and Dabbles for reffing the match / casting the match in #wspn / our sponsor Nextworks
& thanks again to RoK for being so patient before the last round |
GA ET Season 2 Match Update
07.07.2004 14:30 by Demanufacturer
|
It has been a while since our last news item, so sit back and soak up whats been happening for mo* over the last month.
After fending off another challenge from 21, we were challenged by :au: YoY for our #1 position.
We chose to face them on Battery just 1 day after facing :us: |D| on the same map. Some ggs were had, with YoY coming out on top with a 2-0 victory.
The LineUps:
mo: lucky, mozzey, demanufacturer, dardz, grembo, warmachine, ophidian
YoY: maxxx, sickoo, philphy, shrapnel, static, aussie, cowie
The Result:
Modus Operandi 0 - 2 YoY :: Stats
Shortly after dropping rank to 2nd, :au: Dardz - our starting engineer of 10 months - defected to Team YoY to play, he claims, as a reserve. He cited many different reasons for leaving, seemingly unable to settle on a particular one, having had a new one every day for a week after the departure.. The defection took place on the last possible day, that being finals roster lock for YoY - so he is eligable to play finals for them. It would be easy to sit here and defame him for defecting to what can only be seen as our greatest rival this season, however his actions already speak volumes about his character and loyalty. We wish Dardz luck with YoY.. However it is still hard to believe somebody would do this after playing in a team for 10 months, and some of its members for up to 3 years..
Back in #2 spot we were challenged again by :au: BlackJack, facing them on Oasis - we came away with a 2-0 win over the 21 boys.
The LineUps:
mo: demanufacturer, lucky, grembo, ophidian, warmachine, rinaldo, courageous
21: iks, crucif13d, dmj, hatters, bennyb(syd), toy, bug
The Result:
Modus Operandi 2 - 0 BlackJack :: Stats
Keeping our protection status on the GA Ladder, 1 hour after it expired we were challenged by :au: Regiments of Khaos for our #2 spot. We chose the map Radar - Pings all over the interweb were ranging between 100-300 for everybody however they managed to settle down in time for the match. After the came commenced we came away with another quick 2-0 win.
The LineUps:
mo: lucky, diesel, grembo, demanufacturer, warmachine, courageous, rinaldo
RoK: kreml1n, cheezel, arian, heywood, sifnt, trac1d, alkaline
The Result:
Modus Operandi 2 - 0 Regiments of Khaos :: Stats
2 days after this game after some long discussions mo* decided to part company with a starter of approx 6 months, :au: Grembo - we wish him luck with.. whatever
Unfortunately we were unable to challenge for #1 spot before the ladder would be officially locked for Season 2 due to another challenge by :au: BlackJack - we chose to face them on Oasis for the 3rd time this season.
We had a lot of fun, taking the 1st round then drawing the 2nd. Being a monday and realizing we needed to get our beauty sleep, we barred up and set a time of 7:26 after just being held for 15 minutes, defending it and taking the match 2-0-1. A nice effort by 21, managing to come off better this game than they had managed during the season.
The LineUps:
mo: lucky, courageous, badass, demanufacturer, warmachine, ophidian, mozzstah
21: redknob, crucif13d, dmj, tofu, hatters, bubs, bug, bennyb(syd)
The Result:
Modus Operandi 2 - 0 BlackJack :: Stats
We now enter Season 2 finals having lost 2 long time starters, however despite being hurt by these departures it has served to fuel our game. We're playing a more emotional brand of ET right now, and we're looking forward to our upcoming finals matches.
First up we will face :au: Regiments of Khaos on Battery at 21:00 on 08/07/04 - be sure to visit us in #modus-operandi on irc.ausirc.net for shoutcast info and a possible irc-cast of the match.
We would also like to say to the top 8 teams this season, congratulations on making finals and GL. |
A Special Day For a Special Boy
15.06.2004 10:07 by warmachine

On this very day, in a hospital room somewhere in the world, twenty something odd years ago, a woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy. They didn't know it then but that boy would go on to do great things. He would become a leader of men, a champion of justice, a protector of the weak and the strength of his character would only be matched by his compassion and charity. He would be the kind of man that other men respected and women would desire. Indeed, many would come to look up to him and call him by many names; friend, warrior, holy man... saviour.
In the next room, Demanufacturer was born. He would start an internet clan. Angrily.
Happy Birthday from modus-operandi, buddy, hopefully someone puts us out of our misery when we're old, fat, bored and still playing on the "interweb".
No doubt he's going to edit this like the newspost nazi he is, so everyone who reads this, feel free to give him birthday punches. |
Modus Operandi Expands
06.06.2004 17:02 by warmachine
|
At some ungodly hour on the 5th of June, Modus Operandi welcomed :au: courageous into its ranks, not unlike a large, kindly matron cradling a young street urchin to her warm bosom.
With a long history in Wolfenstein and now Enemy Territory, we were more than happy to see another old school player on the roster helping us in our endless quest to achieve enlightenment and get some frags on the way.
There will be good times ahead indeed. |
