Back for Quakecon

Still riding high from our Season 3 Victory, but still thoroughly enjoying the break, we were nothing if not surprised when ET was announced as having an official tournament @ Quakecon 2005.
After some lengthy discussions about the time required, we've decided to return to Enemy Territory in a bid to qualify for Quakecon 2005. We know that no other team has managed to qualify from Australia/New Zealand before, given the massive pings we have to US servers.. however we'll be doing our best to change that.
Further updates will come as we get them - we're in the qualifiers, however no dates, format or configs have been finalized.. |

On Thursday the 17th of March we played off in the GameArena Season 3 Grand Final against Team Dodge. We managed to come away with a 2-1 win, making a 2 map comeback to take the GA S3 Premiership, coming out as undefeated champions. You can find the match report, stats & more details here.
We'd like to say a huge thanks to Game Arena, TSN & GameStah for providing such excellent coverage of the game, it was a huge step forward for Enemy Territory in Oceania. We're thankful to have been a part of Australia's major international ETTV debut.
We'd also like to extend our eternal gratitude to our scrim partners, most notably The Angry Penguins. Thank you guys so much for being such loyal practice partners, always finding sluts to prac us on short notice, asking us if we needed pracs. Always letting us practice weird settings, maxlives, weird MGL maps, attacking over and over and over again =) Thank you guys, we wouldnt have acheived this without you.
With the Season 3 Winners server, as a small sign of our gratitude, we will be giving priority usage and full administration to the Angry Penguins. Start showing them lub asap!! =)
Also a huge thanks to the now defunct clan Dynomite who helped us get through MGL. Most of these guys are now in Klan Fusion, top bunch of guys & they deserve your respect!
Our other scrim partners, Armed-Squads, Alias, Kindred, illusion, Vengeance Star (thanks for the warmup scrim =) 21 & anyone else I've missed. Thanks for the pracs, we appreciate it. Thanks to our IRC idlers in ausirc/modus-operandi, we appreciate your continued support more than you know!
Thanks to everyone who always supported us & those who stuck by us during these last few weeks aswell.
Obviously, also, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to our sponsor, QuickSpeed. Thanks for believing in a just-rebuilt, ambitious single division gaming team. Our performance would have been impossible without their amazing support. Thank You.
For those of you who have expressed an interest in our scripts over the last few months... they are now public. You can download the Modus Operandi ET Spawn Script Pack here ... enjoy
As a few people already knew.. tonight, win or lose, was Modus Operandi's last game of Enemy Territory. With our current squad we have won every competition going in Oceania ET, Maxlives, MGL & GameArena, and have a 22 game winning streak. It's been... fun. We may be moving to CS:S, but we really dont know what the future holds for us.. as they say, only time, will tell =) |

Last night, Modus Operandi defeated the :au: Super Furry Animals in our second Iconz Arena Max Lives match. The score was 2-0 but it doesn't reflect the fast times set by both teams. Hopefully a write-up will appear over at the Iconz Arena ET Tournament forum (although local reporter chrisis from the :au: Flying Cabbages was mysteriously absent) which will save us the trouble of going into a detailed analysis. For now though, you can find a streamlined match report here.
Thanks to SFA for a good game and to Exorsist who patiently refereed the whole gig and made sure we didn't get into any trouble. |

Greetings, been a little while since the last news post but lots to report since we turned one year old!
First up, our participation in Iconz Arena - although bearing no reflection whatsoever on the great work of the organisers - has been a stale affair thus far. Our first round against the Ruddy Bastards was forfeited by our opponents due to their unfortunate disbanding. The second round saw us pitted against YoY which went relatively smoothly despite some childish antics and severe ping troubles. YoY managed to take the game 2-0.
Unfortunately, this has proven to be our only Iconz Arena match so far as our Round 3 was again a no show! It seems Black Cross decided to have a picnic in the Alps or some place equally devoid of the incredible edible internet. Thankfully, the organisers managed to scramble a substitute team for some fragging fun, so big props to them!
With the departure of modus-operandi veterans Lucky, Mozzey and Ophidian, we've been holding a recruitment drive and the response has been overwhelming to say the least. With the application period now closed, we'd like to offer a warm welcome to new recruits Calvin, Steyr and Schism. Faced with a gruelling trial where they were prodded, shot at and interrogated, they not only managed to outlive the other applicants but kindly helped bury the bodies.
Seriously however, a huge thank you to all those who applied - you know who you are. Having grown attached to many of you, it was a truly difficult selection process but we were, and still remain, honoured by your interest. We wish all of you the best of luck with your future endeavours and hope to see you around. |

Demanufacturer:
Hi, how you guys doing? You might know me as Demanufacturer from the popular Enemy Territory clan, Modus Operandi.
War Machine:
And I'm War Machine, from the same clan. Although I don't know if I'd call us popular.
Demanufacturer:
How can you say that? We're the embodiment of popular!
War Machine:
I think it's subjective, there are plenty of people who hate us!
Demanufacturer:
Hate is just another form of popularity.
War Machine:
... That makes no sense!
Demanufacturer:
You have to think laterally my young friend. Anyway, we're not here to talk to you today about strategies or tactics or even randomly blowing things up.
War Machine:
No, we're here to dispel a myth that has been hounding us for quite some time.
Demanufacturer:
That's right, today we're going to convince you that we are in fact, not of the mind that we are better or cooler than everyone else. Or as some of you might refer to us as, "elitist pricks".
War Machine:
What? But we are elitist pricks!
Demanufacturer:
Well demonstrated, War.
War Machine:
I wasn't demonstrating anything!
Demanufacturer:
... Method acting will take you far. At this point, I would like everyone to note that 6vs6 for Season 3 was the way to go and the game ops should change it now!
War Machine:
See, it's statements like that which makes me want to take your keyboard away from you.
Demanufacturer:
There's a snowflake's chance in a log fire of that happening.
War Machine:
Don't you mean a snowflake's chance in hell?
Demanufacturer:
No, I meant in a log fire. Who's to say that hell is hot? I mean nobody knows, for all we know hell could be a bone chillingly cold place!
War Machine:
... But everyone knows hell is supposed to be hot!
Demanufacturer:
Have you ever been to hell?
War Machine:
Yeah, as long as I've been in this team.
Demanufacturer:
... You got me there.
Demanufacturer:
One year ago today something began in the Australian ET Community - it was called Modus Operandi.
It all started when a captain from a well established Return to Castle Wolfenstein team called coffin Dodgers approached me about setting up a squad for Enemy Territory. This was all I needed to spark my megalomaniacal interest in online gaming =)
Little did either of us know exactly what would be in store...
The road we've travelled has been a treacherous one. Full of tears, deceit, betrayal, anger, rage, bonars and a lot of laughs, its been a fun and educational journey so far =)
From our first lineup: Azz-AmoebA, Demanufacturer, Unforgiven, Ophidian, Saiz, Diesel, WarMachine
To our most recent: Lucky, Courageous, ophidian, Demanufacturer, WarMachine, shaggy, mozzstah
....the names may have changed but the mindset and focus remains the same.
Veteren ETPlayer mo*ophidian, only having missed 1 GA match along the way, has retired from Competitive ET. Following in his footsteps were Mozzey and Lucky, also hanging up their etconfig.cfg's, possibly to return another day. I'd personally like to say thanks to these boys, their contributions to competitive ET have been massive.
War Machine:
Modus Operandi, having finished third in two seasons of GA, is now looking forward to competing in Season 3 of the Game Arena Ladder despite some rumour of a possible disbanding or withdrawal from the competition. We also look forward to being involved in the Iconz Arena Max Lives tournament and possibly Ozforces so for all intents and purposes, we're still live and kicking.
With a fresh new roster soon to be established, renewed goals and a new position of #42, we hope to make a positive impact on the Enemy Territory scene as well as working towards a better gaming community.
We'd like to thank the teams we've been scrimming for the past two season (you know who you are) as well as all our supporters and of course, the idlers in our irc channel (#modus-operandi) who have been patient with our almost schizophrenic and impulsive distribution of half-ops. We hope you all stick around for the craziness to come.
The roll call (in alphabetical order) of those who have come and gone, both new and old, whether good, bad or downright crazy:
Azz-AmoebA
Badass
Courageous
Dardz
Demanufacturer
Diesel
Furiousengel
Grembo
Gorechild
Kyndig
Lucky
Mozzstah
Ophidian
Rinaldo
Saiz

mo*workshop
In further news, Modus Operandi will be conducting a series of workshops with invitations extended to clans ranked #25 and below. These sessions will focus on simple offensive and defensive strategies for Oasis, the basic dynamics of developing strategies and a host of other tips that we hope to share with those willing to learn from our experiences.
At present, the first session will only have 10 available slots - to maintain some form of manageability - working on a first come first served basis. Clans #25 and below (as of the time of this post) are encouraged to send one delegate who can hopefully pass on what they have learnt to their respective teams. The first scheduled workshop will be held this Sunday, the 8th of August.
For further information or expressions of interest, please e-mail your details to workshop@modus-operandi.com.au before midday Sunday. Due to the limited positions, be aware that not all clans can be accommodated this Sunday but there will be opportunities to attend further sessions scheduled at later dates. |
