Modus Operandi has returned to compete in AusTourney ET Season 2. We are looking forward to learning and developing strategies for some new maps, something we havent done since our season in the MGL. On top of that, the 3v3 teamsize dynamics should provide for some exciting games.

It is also with great pleasure that we announce the addition of 2 new players to the fold.

First up, hailing from Queensland, Nathaneal "noname-" Kane. Nathaneal (aka Nat) has been playing ET competitively since it began. A veteran of all 5 ET seasons, he recently aquired a GA Title with the team Regiment of Khaos.

Next, hailing from Melbourne, Anthony "trac1d" Yammouni. Anthony has been playing Wolfenstein competitively for over 3 years, and is a veteran ET player with a GameArena & AusTourney title under his belt.

We're looking forward to some fun times with our new players, along with the results our combined experiences will bring.

Our roster for AusTourney Season 2 is as follows:

Demanufacturer
noname-
schism
shaggy
trac1d
xeno

Good luck to all teams competing in AusTourney Season 2!

It's been a crazy week. I'm sure theres no need to cover everything Furi's diary did, so I'll just say a few small things.

Everyone is back home, with their bags. We had learnt from our trip to Dallas that we should distinctively mark our bags so they dont get stolen in baggage claim. You'll see some interesting masking tape in the photos.

Our bootcamp with Check 6 the day before Quakecon was invaluable. Being able to sample the european tactics and teamwork first hand came in handy, and they definitely lived up to their reputation (as we saw a few days later, with Check 6 winning the final 2-1.)

The Quakecon experience was amazing, meeting people from the international ET community, putting a face to those nicks you see on IRC. The team we played first up, brand0n's 5 were a great bunch of guys who were really friendly and were good company watching the games at the iTG lounge. Darkside were good value coming up to us before the match and telling us we were going to lose. U5 humbled us on goldy and supply, and proved just how much of a class act they were in their losers bracket final vs Idle, who had just come off a win against us. The idle game was heaps of fun and they were really nice guys (group photos to come on our site, including DanZai| trying to run off with their cheque.) Both Idle and U5 proved why they should be in the loser bracket final by taking their game to 2 tiebreaker maps making for one of the best games in Quakecon history.

The only disappointment was not being able to play off for 5th position vs Warped Sanity. We were told the championship runoff match was scheduled in error, and that it was due to somebody not disabling something in the tourney software. Warped Sanity were as keen as were we, and despite both of us showing up to play they turned us away. Considering how far we had come, we were disappointed that our official worldwide standing is "Equal 5th Place." The admins reasons for cancelling the match were understandable however, as it overlapped with the ET Grand Final.

On our final day in Dallas we headed out to a theme park for the afternoon before heading back to the hotel, ready to fly out the next morning.

Personally, having flown through Sydney, Auckland, Los Angeles & Dallas, none of them made me forget about coming back to Melbourne. It feels great to be back! Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcome home, and ofcourse thanks again to everyone who helped us to get over the line to attend, most notably Latch. Without the support of you guys and girls we wouldnt have met the deadline and attended Quakecon.

Thanks also to Ausgamers, Gamestah & GameArena who came on board at the last minute, which helped to ensure we werent hitchhiking & living off the land whilst in Dallas. Be sure to help these organizations which help the evolution of eSports in Australasia!

Picture galleries will be coming soon, so stay tuned...
Day Seven - 14/8/05

Last full day in dallas.

No gaming so we had a day to pick something else to do. early in the morning the boys chose to go to the local mall while I, the only female here stayed at the hotel... there is something wrong at the mo camp.. very wrong.

After the guys got back we decided to head over to six flags which is a big theme park here. Awesome rollar coasters galore. we had a great time even if it was incredibly hot and sticky.

This will probably be my last entry cause we will be travelling for the rest of the time mostly. If i get bored when i get back i'll chuck up some travel adventures if we have any. We mite do something interesting with our 10 hours in LA. Also at some stage we will put up a gallery of all the photos we took while over here.

see you all soon! and thanx for reading.

Day Six - 13/8/05
14.08.2005 16:39 by Demanufacturer

Excellent day of competitive gaming !

Started off in the morning with the usual routiine heading over to qcon at around 11:30. When we got there the boys were told they would be playing for 5th at around 2 or as soon as they could get both teams together. the next couple of hours was spend looking around for warped sanity and sitting in the iTG booth watching u5 versus idle.ee.

The game was awesome to watch. I expected u5 to win but as soon as idle took it i thought maybe they would take the whole thing but u5 came back strong on their favorite map goldrush. if only mo had known this was their map before picking it as their own =P. leading in to a tense tie breaker round on oasis it was probably one of the best rounds to watch so far as both teams managed to full hold with difuses galore on idle.ee's side. Another tie breaker was called and it moved to radar. A strong map for both teams but u5 got over the line.

Just after the match was over mo and ws were just about ready to play. Unfortunatly the admin that initially told them they could play said that it was a computer bug and there was never supposed to be a championship runoff game. Pretty dissapointing but not unexpected due to the focus on the final coming up.

So after that everyone settled back into the leet beanbags and awaited the final. While waiting old quake and et movies were played on the plasma screens for entertainment. At around 4:30 the game was just about to start. the shoutcaster casted the LEEEEEERRROOOOYYYYY Jenkins sound bite to get everyone in the mood.

The game starts with u5 again on their map goldrush. it was great stuff when x6 managed to win out. u5 have a great strat for this map but if anyone was going to beat it it was x6. The next move was ice.. perhaps a poor choice as u5 managed to set an unbelievable time due to some excellent panzer work. The crowd were reeling as we went into round 3 on radar. a map the x6 previously beat u5 on the day before, x6 came out and set a good/average time, and dug in hard to hold them out to win the $25,000 cash prize.

After a big day of watching great matcheds we all decided to go to dinner and took studges firm suggestion to go to hooters. good food and attractive service although our hooter girl lindsey took exception to jim telling her how to pour a beer without leaving a 50% head on each glass. After out-staying jims welcome we headed back to quakecon at around 9 for the after party and prize presentations.

After that we just headed back to the hotel for some pool action and a bit of a sleep which is where i'm headed right now. night all catch u tommorow.

Day Five - 12/8/05
13.08.2005 17:05 by Demanufacturer

Big day today. lots of highs and lows.

Started off ok with a little bit of a sleep in. we didn't have to get up till 9am so we all got a decent nights sleep. After grabbing brekky and getting ready we headed back to quakecon for around 10:30.

I was shitty for the first 30 miins after arriving as I was told that i could no longer play in the ms.quakecon tourney because i was supposed to be there at 8am.. no one told me or alot of the other girls so it was a pretty short comp i think. i was really looking forward to playing too but i managed to go and console myself with a few rounds of quake 4.

After my tantrum it was time for the guys first game of the day verses darkside. Justin and I opted to watch from the iTG stand so we could tell what was going on. Before the match was played they ran a comp for people watching to guess the results in a doom ava dual. I WON OMG ! so they gave me a copy of a game i will never play... jucied. Once the game started it was very tense but awesome to watch. Before the game Darkside had laid down a thick layer of smack talk which gave the guys even more incentive to win. After a very close round on supply the guys cleaned them up pretty quickly on oasis with 2 plants going down right after eachother. Victory was sweet and darkside were not happy.

With everyone on a high we decided to leave and go out for some lunch. Because we wanted to try something new we got subway....it's better in australia :/ We then headed back to the hotel for some naps before going back to the gaylord.

Back inside the smelly arena we awaited the first loss for mo in over a year. it hit hard, u5 were a prepared team with skilled smg and deserved the win. With the safety net gone we had to then wait for the next round versus idle.ee at around 10:30pm. mo came out strong on their map choice but it wasnt enough to bring it home. The idle.ee guys were awesome and i hope they make it to the grand final for an all estonian grand slam. The guys will have a chance to play of for 5th place tommorow which will be awesome. should be a fun day.

On the way out we chatted and joked with the idle.ee guys and got a few happy snaps. The brave mo boys then vowed to return the following day to taunt and abuse them for kicks.
